There are so many places to see that 3 days are not enough for Sydney but budget constraints made us stick to prioritizing the things we wanted to do. First things first - opt for Airbnb as the hotels can be more on the expensive side and you get much more options near Harbors to make your travel around easy. Sydney is the city of harbors and ferries are the best way to see it

Day 1: Explore Diamond Harbor and Sydney Opera House

Darling Harbor: We took a place near Darling Harbor so the ferry stations were at walk-able distance. One full day can be spent just out here so choose what you ant to do and buy tickets accordingly (You can get some discount vouchers online as well as from some tour operators). Must see places here are:

National Maritime Museum Wild Life Sydney ZooSea Life aquariumCockle Bay Wharf : Must have dinner here

The harbor has multiple cafes, restaurants and palladium depending on your choice of cuisine so take a walk along the harbor at night to enjoy the view before you settle down on an eatery.

Sydney Opera House: Opera House is in Circular Quay which is hardly a 20 min walk or a 15 min ferry ride from Darling Harbor. We reached by evening and by night the opera House gets beautifully lighted so you can enjoy the vie. There are many plays and shows that you can choose and book on the spot or try their glass covered restaurant which gives picturesque vie of the Sydney Harbor bridge and the ocean. There is also a Botanical garden nearby which should be visited before night time and then by night you can explore several bay side restaurants of Circular Quay.

There are some tours that offer climb of Sydney Harbor bridge climb so best is to choose the one at sunset time to enjoy the view perfectly. In fact Circular quay is the main harbor from where most of the tours start and stop so choose any tour operator and make your bookings accordingly.

Day 2: Manly beach and Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo and Manly beach are stops on the ferry so either you can take a fast ferry directly to Manly beach or stop at Taronga zoo first and then go over to Manly as the Zoo will close around 5-6pm before it gets dark. There are several ferry that you can use to move around Sydney but ensure you get the time tables as Manly is one of the last stops and you wouldn't want to miss the ferry.

Taronga Zoo: It's an island zoo covering huge stretches so it will easily take more than 4-5 hours to move around the zoo. We took the map and prioritized few places like Koala bear ( they are asleep 23 hours a day so you are lucky if you get a photo with them), Kangaroo and wallaby enclosure where they are free to roam and people interact with them and bird area. They also do live shows like seal, penguins and elephants which are trained accordingly so lots to watch here. They have a cafe where many of the birds like seagulls and turkey roam around freely which was quite unique in itself to see such friendly interactions.

Manly beach: The beach has a walkway around as well as places to play games as volleyball along with several cafes and hang-out places surrounding it. The marketplace and beach we covered by the evening and took the last ferry back to Darling Harbor.

Day 3 : Blue Mountain Tour

This trip is a must on Sydney visit and many travel agencies provide it as a bus tour combined with a ferry tour to visit the main harbor. It include:

  • Morning Pick up from your place of stay.

  • Tour of few city stops like view of Sydney bridge

  • Visit to the wildlife park : You get to feed the wallaby and Kangaroo here - plus lots of Koala and birds too. We got breakfast at the cafe here as journey is long.

  • Stop over at a nearby village for lunch and washrooms. Some tourists had a lunch included package but there are multiple restaurants and super market in this area so no issue in the food department

  • Finally the blue mountain

  • 3 ways to see the area: Cable car, train and walk-way

  • Cable car give a good top-view of the mountain and takes you to the heart of it

  • Train is at an angle of 52 degrees and gives a thrilling inclined speedy ride into the forests of the mountain.

  • There's a well organized path-way around the rain forest to enjoy the natural beauty while taking a walk.

  • Cafes for snacks

  • Return with a few more stops with beautiful view of the mountains.

  • Ends with an evening or night ride of the ferry so we took the top spot on the ferry and enjoyed the harbors around

  • Drop off at circular Quay where we have the Opera house and many many Shopping outlets.

The tour is of $130 dollar around which is totally worth it as entry ticket of any of these places was around $30 each so quite affordable trip.

We however couldn't cover Bondi beach which is one of the popular beaches of Sydney plus also missed out on watching a show in Opera house due to time shortage.
